Saturday + Sunday = the weekend,其中的 weekend 不能写成分开的 week 和 end 或 week-end,那么在周末是 at the weekend 还是 on the weekend 呢?

一、at the weekend 和 on the weekend 的区别

I play football at the weekend.

I play football on the weekend.

I play football in the weekend.

We used to go to the beach at the weekend.

We used to go to the beach on the weekend.

We used to go to the beach in the weekend.

而 over/during the weekend 既可以用于英式英语,又可以用于美式英语,一般来说它们跟 at/on the weekend 是一样的,例如:

Are you doing anything over/during the weekend?

He told me to give you a call over the weekend.

We spent many weekends at the beach.

We go skiing most weekends in winter.

同样地,at weekends 用于英式英语,on (the) weekends 用于美式英语,也不存在 in weekends,例如:

She doesn't have to work at weekends.

She doesn't have to work on (the) weekends.

She doesn't have to work in weekends.

三、last weekend,next weekend,this weekend

Last weekend, next weekend 和 this weekend 之前不用 at 或 on,例如:

We went up to London last weekend.

We went up to London at last weekend.

We went up to London on last weekend.

I think I’ll go to the beach next weekend.

I think I’ll go to the beach at next weekend.

I think I’ll go to the beach on next weekend.

My parents are coming to visit this weekend.

My parents are coming to visit at this weekend.

My parents are coming to visit on this weekend.

四、long weekend

We hope you enjoy the long weekend.

Do you have any plans for the long weekend?
