很多人一看rise,raise,arise,arouse和rouse这几个词就已经分不清他们的意思了,今天Jack就来给大家分析一下这几个词。

1.rise: vi./n.上升;增强;起立, ( rise rose risen)

是指由低处升到高处,说明主语自身移向较高的位置,常用于日,月,云,河水,温度,物价等。

例句:

The industry is feeling the effects of recent price rises.

这一行业已经感觉到了最近提价的影响。

Wilson's ice-cold eyes watched the smoke rise from his cigarette.

威尔逊那双冰冷的眼睛注视着烟雾从他的香烟中冒出。

Temperatures rarely rise above freezing.

气温很少升到零度以上。

2.raise:vt.提高,举起;升起;筹集;养育,

(raise raised raised )

指将某物由低处升至高处,或者是举到高处。

例句:

She raised the gun and fired.

她举枪射击。

He raised a hand in greeting.

他扬起手表示问候。

She raised her eyes from her work.

她停下工作,抬起头看了。

3.arise:vi.出现;上升;起立;发生;产生,

(arise arose arisen)

作为上升讲时,可以与rise互换,但比较文气。

常用搭配:arise from “起源于”。

We keep them informed of any changes as they arise.

如有任何变化,我们随时通知他们。

Black smoke arise (rise) from the chimmy.

黑烟从烟囱里冒出来。。

Heavy Metal music really arose in the late 60s.

重金属音乐真正形成于60年代后期。

​4.rouse:vt. 唤醒;使醒来, 通常用在比较具体的叫醒或者唤醒。(rouse roused roused )

常用搭配:rouse sb./ rouse sb. from sleep/bed ​

rouse sb./ rouse sb. out of …….

例句:

The telephone roused me from my sleep at 6 a.m.

早晨六点钟,电话铃声就把我从睡梦中吵醒了。​

Nicky roused her with a gentle nudge.

尼基用胳膊肘轻轻地将她推醒。​

The Toad slept very soundly,and no amount of

shaking could rouse him out of bed nextmorning.

癞蛤蟆睡得十分香甜,直到第二天早晨,他都起不来。

此外,还可以用在表示情绪和兴趣方面的激发

结构:

rouse sb./oneself (to sth); rouse sb./oneself to do sth. 使活跃起来;使产生兴趣

例句:

Richard couldn't rouse himself to say anything in reply.

理查德没有兴趣回答。

The speaker was trying to rouse the audience to enthusiasm.

那位演讲者正设法激起听众的热情。

He did more to rouse the crowd there than anybody else.

5.arouse:vt. 把(感情,兴趣)唤起,激起;使某人生气

(arouse aroused aroused)

常用搭配:arouse sth. 激起;引起(感情、态度)

to arouse sb.’s interest/curiosity/anger 引起某人的兴趣/好奇心/怒气

Her strange behaviour arouse our suspicion.

她的古怪行为引起了我们的怀疑。

His revolutionary work in linguistics has aroused intense scholarly interest.

他在语言学方面的革命性著作引起了强烈的学术兴趣。

The smell of frying bacon aroused his hunger.

煎咸肉的味道激起了他的饥饿感。

arouse sb. 激起性欲

Some men are aroused when their partner says erotic words to them.

一些男人在性伙伴对他们说色情话时会被撩起性欲。

arouse sb. (from sth.) 唤醒

He was arouse from sleep.

他被叫醒了。

arouse sb. 使行动起来;激发

Would he arouse him with a throb of agony?

他要激发牧师一阵痛苦的悸动吗?。
